Riveting News Update...

This is riveting stuff right here…

Many of the blogs I read include sporadic updates about the life and times of the author. I’m including that little bit of info in the keys-to-a-successful-blog and what-people-want-to-hear sections of my brain. Hence…

Summer is on its last leg for 2014. That’s a tragedy. Let’s have a moment of silence together to mourn our loss.

Thank you. It just seems like it has gone by way too fast and I feel that I haven’t done anything that I mentally listed to do during these few months. Thank goodness I didn’t actually make a real written list because that would be evidence that I have been lazy and maybe a tick bit counterproductive during parts of the summer.

In other news, I have returned to CrossFit. I understand this development may come as a surprise to many of you, but I assure you that I attend more than once a week, give it a solid 68% effort, and sweat every single time I go. It can be a little intimidating.  I think the key is to attend the 8am class and stand amongst the 50/60 year old crowd.  It makes my 68% appear to be more like 82% effort. Either way I’m burnin calories, and that’s news.

In August we are taking a beach trip with some friends.  If you know me well enough, you know I can be a lot to take for long periods of time.  I think I’m fun but some people just can’t handle that much fun in one week.  Good news is that Cassie and I have been friends for a lifetime…literally. She is possibly the only person (besides Ole Jus) that could stand to be around me for days on end. Bad news…I’m not sure how her hubby Chris will handle all this excitement. I figure the whole thing can go one of two ways…it goes great and everyone gets along perfectly…or…no one gets a long, I offend Chris daily, we learn to NEVER take trips together again but our friendship is salvaged only because Justin’s cooking is so advanced and delicious and he is much less exciting.

Earlier in the year Ole Jus suggested that we homeschool our 2 youngest kids… then I laughed. I am now happy (and a little apprehensive)to report that we will begin our first year’s homeschool adventure next month. I can see a “Top Ten Reasons We Decided To Homeschool” in this blog’s future. You can be sure if there are any major happenings on our homeschool journey you, my precious blog readers, will be the first to know.

This month I read What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. It was incredible and a great summer read. In the story Alice wakes up and has forgotten the last 10 years of her life. She spends most of the book learning that she is a completely different person than she was ten years prior. It just made me think…What if I was my 20 year old self looking at the person I had become as my 30 year old self?  Twenty year old Lacy would be impressed I think. Life is different…FROM THIS SIDE OF THIRTY.
