Friday Favorites

I’ve recently made quite a few new (to me) discoveries and I couldn’t help but share them with you, special (to me) people! Here’s to my first FRIDAY FAVORITES!
1. Sam Hunt

I’d imagine his most popular song would have to be “Leave the Night On” or “Take Your Time”. And please don’t confuse SAM HUNT with SAM SMITH. After I saw the fella perform on an awards show, I downloaded the complete album. But that’s a little bit of a lie…I may have found it on iTunes before he ever transitioned into the chorus. Hello!? Have you seen the guy? He’s a good looking man. That’s all I’ll say about it, but you should check it out for yourself.

Um yes, but that’s not the only reason he made my favorite list…it’s been years since I’ve been this impressed by an entire album. Y’all! Sam Hunt’s whole album is awesome! It’s my Summer 2015 Sound Track. My most favorite is “Speakers”, with “House Party” and “Break Up in a Small Town” coming in as runners-up.

Sometimes when I'm listening to his lyrics and really feelin' the beat I look around to see if Ole Jus is around because its like Sam is singing to me...awkward. Really though, it's not to late to claim his album Montevallo as your summer sound track too!

2. The Acne Cure - a book
I’m dealing with acne? But this blog isn’t titled From This Side of Thirteen? Yeah…tell me about it. I’ve had more pimples in the last 10 years than any other decade of my life (which consists of only 3, but who’s counting?) Through a distant cousin I found a book… The Acne Cure by Terry J. Dubrow & Brenda Adderly. From what I understand, its a regiment anyone can do with a few simple steps and ingredients you can find at your local drug store. It's not something I've tried yet, but its worked wonders for her.

3. Oil Cleansing Method

Sounded like a way to clean up an oil spill to me, but in fact I was incorrect. It’s a method of cleaning YOUR FACE! I was first introduced to the idea on a blog by Michelle Money of The Bachelor. (A show of which I am a huge fan, but choose to keep on the DL because… hide your crazy.) Michelle featured this method of face washing in a video. I highly recommend you check it out here. After my initial spark of intrigue thanks to Ms. Money, I turned to google and eventually YouTube for further investigation.

It’s fascinating! I’m no expert, but checkout YouTube. There are many more non-experts like myself that seem to know what they’re talking about. Search “Oil Cleansing Method”.

My main takeaway from my research is that the cleansers we typically use on our skin strip the oils from our face. This causes our skin to attempt to compensate for the oil lost. From there, we can end up having skin too oily or too dry depending on its ability to produce more oil.

Y’all! I tried it and have loved what it’s done for my skin. My acne is 10% of what it was before and the texture of my face has never been better. I also feel like I’m making great strides in the aging department because my face is constantly so moisturized.

You need to do your own research on what works best for your skin and the techniques for using the Oil Cleansing Method, but this is what I’ve been doing…

I cleanse in the shower twice a day and use a new clean washcloth each time. As if you needed any more incentive to take the Oil Cleansing Method more seriously, you must know that this is the most inexpensive cleanser I have ever used on my face. Who knew!?

4. Shaving

This is another fav brought to you via Michelle Money. She shaves her FACE!?!? Yes, and if you have a face you should too. Watch the video before completely shutting me out... see it here.

It's summer, which is the perfect time to see those long little blonde hairs on someone's face. I just saw them on a friend's face (not the BFF) the other day and couldn't bring myself to tell her! So here is my PSA...ladies, we have little blonde hairs on our faces and if you plan to be seen in bright lights or sunshine EVER you must take care of them!

So I'll let you in on my face shaving status... I bought the Tinkle razors from Amazon. They came in the mail. I am scared to do it!!! It just seems like the point of no return. But here's the good news, I'm considering video blogging my first shave... :/   We'll see.

5. Selfie Stick

When I first saw these on a morning show months ago, I thought...absurd. Some idiots are going to buy these and reward the idiots that invented them and then our society is going to be overrun with idiots carrying phones on sticks. But then I got my hands on one. I have never looked so good in a selfie y'all! I mean, the possibilities are endless with those things!...and now I have become an idiot...FROM THIS SIDE OF THIRTY.
