I have a new favorite song I heard Ed Sheeran sing live on
the catwalk at a world renowned fashion show that airs on CBS during the
holidays… hint: it rhymes with Rictoria’s Fleecret. If I were to have watched
more than his solo performance I could tell you that it isn’t much of a fashion
show. They are closer to wearing nothing than something. Those few women have
been touched by a metabolism angel that has never visited me or they have been surviving on lettuce
and water for weeks. And not one single
lady I know in real life could walk in those shoes on that shiny, slippery
looking TV screen of a floor…but I do not
have those insights to offer since I didn’t actually watch the fiasco unfold…I
also wouldn’t be able to tell you that I have high suspicions that Hozier
doesn’t actually GO TO CHURCH. I
digress, the song I’m really liking these days is Thinking Out Loud. Some of Ed’s lyrics are,
“Darlin’ I will be lovin’ you til we’re 70
And, baby, my heart can still fall as hard at 23”
When I hear those lyrics (or sing them alone in the car
really loud) I think of Ole Jus and how, if we are lucky, do the work and trust
God we can still be living this life in love and doing it side by side in 40
years (31 for Ole Jus).
More interestingly though, his opening lyrics are as follows…
“When your legs don’t work like they used to before…”
Hum. How can “artists” string those words together and make
it appear to be romantic? All I’m saying is if the hubs rolled over in our bed and
looked at me on a quiet Saturday morning with the sun shining in on us and
said, “Lace, I’ll still love you when your legs don’t work like they used to
before…” I might respond like so, “Ole Jus, I’ll still love you when you
completely LOSE IT!” and then I would use said legs to kick him in the shin…FROM
THIS SIDE OF THIRTY.
